In history, witches used knotted cords to "bind" the weather, to create circles of protection, and to bind things magically.  Many people in the Middle Ages used to scratch the witch's knot over the doorways of their homes and stables to protect them from negativity entering.
The four capes can have different symbolism, such as the four seasons, the different elements earth, air, fire and water, or the four-leaf clover's petals which stand for luck and happiness.

Onyx is a powerful protective crystal that neutralizes negative energy and is believed to prevent exhaustion, heal grief, and prevent us from breaking down from stress. It is said to have properties that bring happiness, luck, joy of life, and success.
Onyx is often associated with the color black but it comes in all sorts of color combinations with black being the least common. Onyx forms near the ground surface in caves and other cavities and is found all over the world.
