Necklace with Viking shield and the rune of the war god Tyr
Necklace with Viking shield and the rune of the war god Tyr
Stainless steel necklace with Viking shield.
The shield is decorated with Tyr's rune 'Tiwaz' which stands for warrior and duty.
On the back is the magic wand Aegishjalmur.
Tyr was worshipped by the Viking warriors as a god of war and stood for honor and justice.
He had his arm bitten off by the Fenris wolf when he was chained by the Æsir gods, and during Ragnarök he fights the hellhound Garm.
In Old Swedish, his name was Ti and this appears in, among other things, Tuesday, which is Tyr's day, and at the beginning of several place names such as Tiveden and Tierp.
Aegishjalmur, or "helm of reverence," is a Viking-era emblem of protection. The symbol was drawn between the eyebrows of warriors to aid them in battle and strike fear into their opponents.
Ægishjálmur is also called the Helmet of Fear. Helmet of Ægir which means fear/terror.
