Necklace with Viking ship and solar cross in stainless steel
Necklace with Viking ship and solar cross in stainless steel
Necklace made entirely of stainless steel with a Viking ship and solar cross.
Viking longships had both masts and oars, and could require between 24 and 50 men to row. The mast on a ship could be dismantled when it was necessary to sneak towards the coast undetected.
The bow was adorned with terrifying animals. These served as psychological warfare and was taken down when approaching peaceful water.
The sun cross is common in rock carvings from the Bronze Age. The sun was likened to a wheel drawn across the sky. It is also believed that the cross symbolizes the four cardinal directions, or the four seasons. The sun was important to the Vikings as it gave life to the crops and was used to navigate their ships.
