The necklace consists of a solid, 35mm, brass ring tied into a string of strong water-resistant thread. The reindeer that hangs and pings against the ring is also brass, plated with 18K gold.

A ring of brass was worn hanging from the belt or on the colt and was said to protect against evil forces and ill health. It also symbolizes the power of the sun and fire and has always had ritual significance in Sami culture.
The reindeer symbolizes a life completely in harmony with nature and the legend says that there is a promise between the Sami and the reindeer - that they will take care of each other at all times.
