Odin is the all-father of the Asagods and rules in Valhalla. He has two wolves, Gere and Freke, and his spear is called Gugnir. The raven was seen as Odin's messenger by the Vikings. Hugin (the thought) and Munin (the memory) fly every morning over Asgard and Midgard to return in the evening and tell about everything they have seen and heard. The raven has also been considered a soul carrier and whoever found a black feather knew that the soul of a deceased relative or friend was present to offer help.
